Ruby Ash is an illustrator originally from Aotearoa, New Zealand, now based in Melbourne and working internationally. Her work is expressive and texture-led — intricate linework layered with rich colour to build atmosphere, depth, and a distinctly human warmth. Working across editorial, packaging, branding and educational projects, the throughline is always the same: genuine attention to detail and illustration that actually connects.
Ruby began her career as a graphic designer, but kept finding ways to pull illustration into everything she touched. Eventually, the illustration won. She holds a Gold Award from The Best Awards in Student Graphics, and her clients include HarperCollins, Laurence King, The Washington Post, The Financial Times, and The Guardian — a list that speaks to both the range and the calibre of her work.
