Augusto Costanzo — known internationally as Costhanzo — is an Argentine illustrator and visual artist with more than three decades of experience across editorial, cultural and commercial illustration. Working from his home studio in Buenos Aires, Costhanzo has built a career spanning some of the world's most recognisable mastheads and brands, including The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, The Independent, the Los Angeles Times, BBC, El País, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Disney, Nike, Absolut Vodka and Sony Music, among many others. His illustration for the Absolut Vodka bottle dedicated to Buenos Aires remains a career highlight — a mark of the global reach his work has earned.
Costhanzo's style is built on strong graphic synthesis, bold lines and flat colour: a vector-driven visual language that turns complex ideas into simple, striking, unmistakably his images. He moves fluidly between editorial illustration, portraiture, branding and books, always drawing back to the subjects he loves most — music, cinema and football. He estimates he's made well over 20,000 drawings so far — and he's still counting. In 2019 he marked 30 years in the industry with a major retrospective in Buenos Aires, and he believes strongly in the power of exhibiting original work in an increasingly digital, AI-driven world. For Costhanzo, drawing has never just been about the image — it's a starting point for ideas, stories and bigger creative worlds. The Drawing Arm is proud to welcome him to the agency.
